Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs defense. The Chiefs offensive line. 3 factors that made people say that the Chiefs are “washed”. Well folks, they may be improving drastically, but the Chiefs ARE NOT BACK.

After their past couple of weeks, the Chiefs have sustained a 6 game win streak. Their defense is averaging 10.8 points allowed over the last 6 weeks and their offense has averaged 27 points in that span. Many fans have wondered, are the Chiefs really back. Their most recent victory over the Raiders flared this discussion into the spotlight. Many people have had doubts about the Chiefs although their win streak. This is mainly because of the “easy” schedule in which people associate the Chiefs with. Nick Wright has stated what all Chiefs fans have been saying over the past 6 weeks.
Though this new found mojo from the Chiefs is exciting, it does not warrant the big picture. the Chiefs defense may back and better than ever. Their new found defense will be tested heavily against the powerhouse of the Los Angles Chargers. The Chiefs offense however, has been their main downside. Although they are averaging 27 points in the last 6 games, this is mainly because of two blowouts of the Raiders. Against the Cowboys – a team with a good defense and winning record – Patrick Mahomes and the offense were only able to put up 19 points. Even Patrick Mahomes had something to say about their team as a whole.
With the defense playing the way they are playing, and if the offense and get it rolling like we’ve been known to do, we are going to be a tough team to beat. The defense is playing with confidence… and the offense, I think we’re getting better each and every week, I am just happy to build this momentum and carry it on into next week
Patrick Mahomes – per Postgame Press Conference (after Raiders game – 12/12/21)
Patrick Mahomes cites the improved defense and improved offense. However, Mahomes cites that, if the offense gets it rolling, they will be a tough team to beat. This answer by Mahomes tells us that the offense is not where it needs to be in order for Super Bowl contention.
However, the AFC’s top teams have been very inconsistent in the recent past that gives the Chiefs a shot at the #1 seed, and to be the top contender. Teams like the Bills, Ravens, and Titans have gotten into slumps lately which makes fans wonder about their consistency. At this moment, it looks to be that the Patriots and the Chiefs are the top dawgs of the AFC.

The Chiefs may make a late push for the #1 seed, but as of right now, they are NOT BACK.
Their next game against the Los Angles Chargers will be a big testament. Can they silence the doubters?
